Central 20-Meter Tall Christmas Tree is the Main Attraction

To enhance the festive atmosphere, the Hong Kong Tourism Board organizes Christmas lighting events every year to attract tourists. In 2025, the event is located in Central with the theme "Winter Wonderland in Central." As I witnessed on-site, visitors to the” Christmas Town “ in Statue Square in Central are immediately drawn to the 20-meter tall Christmas tree. The 6-story Christmas tree lights up with different patterns synchronized with music, and the surrounding ribbons change colors, offering blessings to everyone. It's no wonder there are so many visitors. Everyone is eager to take selfies and group photos around the Christmas tree, but capturing the best effects with the changing lights may require some patience and adjustment in positioning, so most people end up spending more time here.

The "Christmas Town · Central" located at Statue Square in Central has officially opened. The lights on the Christmas tree change colors continuously, making it quite dazzling.

Not just the Christmas tree, this year's organizers have also created a series of whimsical classic toys like vintage airplanes, cars, puppets, etc., all perfect for photo shots. There are a cozy Christmas cottage, ideal for family photos or couples, and the one I saw on-site beside the Christmas tree had many visitors queuing to enter for photos. The staff on-site are very friendly and willing to take pictures for visitors. With projections and lights on the tree, you're guaranteed to be delighted with photo shots, but time always seems to run short.

Since Hong Kong's Statue Square Garden in Central is divided into north and south sides, the 20-meter tall Christmas tree is closer to the Hong Kong City Hall side, while the whimsical classic toy installations, European-style wooden cottages selling souvenirs and snacks, and other photo spots like tree projections are closer to the HSBC Main Building side. It might be a good idea to finish photographing one side before moving to the other.

The organizers haven't forgotten the trend of immersive experiences in recent years and have specially hired an international production team to use professional techniques to project exquisite details of the winter scenes onto the outer walls of buildings using dazzling lighting effects. This " Immersive Light Show in Central" turns the facades of eight Central landmark buildings surrounding Statue Square into giant canvases for light and shadow, creating a multi-layered visual experience through 30 holographic ground projection installations and light projections on trees. This enhances the festive activities on the buildings and grounds, providing a more immersive audiovisual experience for visitors. Central is not only the most Christmas spot in this winter but also showcases Hong Kong's nighttime charm as the Pearl of the Orient.

"Immersive Light Show in Central" transforms the exteriors of HSBC and Bank of China Tower into a giant light and shadow canvas. The animated visuals on the building's exterior together with the 20-meter-tall Christmas tree, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. The Christmas projection animation brings the Bank of China Tower to life as well.

" Immersive Light Show in Central" runs from Monday to Friday starting at 7:30 pm (starting at 7 pm on holidays), becoming a focal point for photography and admiration. However, due to the different locations of the buildings, the positions for photography and admiration also vary. For example, to see the Court of Final Appeal building, you must be in front of it, while to capture the City Hall High Block and Hong Kong Club buildings, you need to be next to the Christmas tree. The unexpected animations on the walls keep changing, so if you want to carefully photograph and appreciate the projections on the various buildings, you'll need to spend some time and move around.

The Christmas projections complement the traditional European architecture of the Court of Final Appeal. The snowmans walk across the façade of the Hong Kong City Hall.

As I observed on-site, visitors at Statue Square are delighted by the Christmas installations and are capturing moments with satisfaction. If time allows, you can continue to “Starlight Boulevard” on Chater Road, where the main attraction is a magnificent large hanging lamp in the middle of the road. The entrance of the Chater House is adorned with a large 12.5-meter hanging lamp, along with glittering light decorations on the trees along the way, making it a striking festive highlight.

As for Chater Road, it has transformed into “ Starlight Boulevard. The main attraction is, of course, this magnificent outdoor chandelier.
