Real-life Version of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" | Tunxi Old Street(屯溪老街)

"Along the River During the Qingming Festival(清明上河圖)" is a famous ancient Chinese painting depicting the bustling scene of Bianjing (present-day Kaifeng) during the Northern Song Dynasty. Many travelers visiting Huangshan make Tunxi Old Street their first stop. Walking along Tunxi Old Street feels like traveling through time, as if being immersed in the painting of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival." Huangshan and Tunxi Old Street are a perfect match. The mountain represents Huangshan's unspoiled natural beauty, while Tunxi Old Street is celebrated as a "flowing version of the Qingming Festival"!

Tunxi Old Street is a pedestrian street in the Tunxi District of Huangshan City, approximately 1 kilometer long and built during the Song and Ming Dynasties. It has a history of over a thousand years. Located at the confluence of the Hongjiang, Shuihua, and Xin'an rivers, its advantageous location has made it a bustling hub for centuries. Today, over 300 well-preserved Huizhou-style carved buildings line the street, which is why it was selected as one of the "Chinese Historical and Cultural Streets" in 2009, alongside Guozijian Street in Beijing and Pingjiang Road in Suzhou. Walking along this street feels like being in a real-life version of the Qingming Festival painting, allowing visitors to experience the ancient prosperity.

Wildlife Watching in the Changjiang River Basin

Taiping Lake National Wetland Park is a major stopover for many migratory birds during autumn and winter. It provides a welcoming environment for seasonal birds, ensuring they feel at home. Authorities and tourists work together to protect the environment from over-exploitation, allowing protected animals to have suitable spaces to stay.

In July 2024, the Anhui Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment announced the second batch of provincial-level beautiful river and lake excellence cases, with the Qimen County Changjiang (Huangshan Qimen section) being one of five successful cases in the province, certified for its water quality!
